Contra la Pirc las blancas realizan una configuración muy típica, los caballos a “c3” y “f3”, el alfil a “e2” y el enroque corto. En muchas variantes el blanco se apodera del espacio con el movimiento “e5”, limitando al mismo tiempo al alfil negro de “g7”. Esta opción fue testerada por varios brillantes jugadores, entre ellos, Anatoly Karpov, las virtudes de este orden calzan perfecto para el estilo posicional del legendario ex campeón mundial.

Contra la defensa Moderna, 1.e4 g6 2. d4 Ag7 se sugiere un dispositivo muy interesante. La idea principal de las negras es jugar contra 3.Cc3 a6 con idea de …b5, ganan espacio en el flanco dama e intentan molestar al caballo de “c3” con la jugada …b4, la configuración se completa con los movimientos …Ab7-Cd7. El GM Marc Narciso propone evitar estas molestias retrasando el desarrollo del caballo dama y optando en la tercera jugada por 3.Cf3.
